Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration
It seems that this phrase was uttered by Thomas Edison, perhaps the most famous inventor in history, capable of obtaining approximately 1600 patents. With these words, Edison emphasizes how important work and perseverance are compared to inspiration or innate talent in achieving success.
But work and perseverance, with the right tool, can also become a lot of fun. And the right tool, in this case, is applied to another instrument.
A musical instrument.
The guitar.
This tool is Visual Note.
It is a system designed to learn to play the guitar through the use of a LED plate applied to the instrument's fingerboard. This device, controlled via a dedicated app, lights up the keys to press and guides the user in playing chords, scales and entire musical pieces.
The LED plate is an ultra-thin strip with 132 RGB LEDs that light up to indicate the notes to play. A rechargeable Bluetooth microcontroller is attached to the back of the guitar headstock, and manages the communication between the plate and the app. The app contains everything you need to become a guitarist.
What we did in Web Devotion
The development of the app was our work, guided by an ancient principle that is increasingly widespread at all levels. The principle of gaming: learning while having fun.
The hardware was already connected to a previous app, which however was not very structured and did not allow to exploit all the potential of the device to the fullest. Our idea was to transform that app into a real platform to be used to play immediately, without getting lost in theoretical explanations and immediately experiencing the pleasure of making music.
From their mobile phone or tablet, the user had to be able to access in the simplest way all the knowledge necessary to grow as a musician, amateur or even more.
We then integrated a CMS developed from Akesis, which manages:
- The complete list of all songs.
- The list of videos associated with them.
- The fretboard diagrams and related effects.
- The chords and tablature of each song (provided by the Guitar Pro archive).
Finally, we have equipped the system with a dashboard for the centralized control and management of all the features, including subscriptions.
