Web Devotion's Task
When GEK Lab approached us, they wanted to transform an aging IT system into a modern platform capable of supporting ambitious growth. The brief was clear: improve everything. From enterprise data management to advanced diagnostics, every piece needed to be optimized, redesigned, and in some cases, completely reinvented.
The starting point was an old application.
It worked, but it had become incapable of meeting the needs of a company that was growing rapidly. We therefore started with an in-depth analysis, to understand what was missing and which solutions could really make a difference. From this phase, the project of building new modules to manage every aspect of the activity of a company with a complex physiology was born.
Just think of that number already seen: over 200 thousand reports. This means just as many records to create, tests to manage in the passage from the pharmacy to the laboratories, from there to the doctors for the reporting, and back to the pharmacies for the delivery of the results to the users. Not to mention the privacy protection profiles for the security of health data.
GEK Lab is a company active since 2012 in clinical and scientific research, with a focus on the study of the interactions between inflammation, glycation and nutrition. It has a network of over 1,500 partner centers in Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Switzerland; it has produced over 200 thousand medical reports; it works in close collaboration with universities, institutional research centers and private structures
Our work
We have therefore thought, designed and implemented innovative modules on these specific points:
- Personal data: to organize and easily access customer data.
- Orders: for precise tracking, from entry to delivery.
- Tests and communications: for a direct connection with laboratories and pharmacies.
- Logistics: to automate shipments and test flows.
But the real challenge was at the heart of the business: reporting. Reports, previously managed manually or with fragmented processes, had to be rethought from scratch. For this reason, we created a system capable of generating clear and visually accurate documents, integrating images, graphics and explanatory texts.
The technological leap
With AWS as the backbone, we migrated GEK Lab's infrastructure to a modern, scalable platform. This not only improved performance, but transformed a limited system into a robust platform capable of handling complex workloads while maintaining high standards of reliability.
The contribution of Artificial Intelligence
GEK Lab aimed at a futuristic activity: the analysis of telomeres to determine biological age and identify potential signs of pathologies. So we created a machine learning engine trained on a database of 20,000 historical tests. This engine not only analyzes the data, but continuously learns, updating itself with each new test performed.
In general, every day the tests performed enrich the model, making it increasingly precise. And - an aspect of fundamental importance - the diagnosis does not stop at the machine: each result, in fact, is supervised and certified by medical specialists, to guarantee the reliability that a patient deserves in the healthcare field.
The result
What started as an upgrade request has evolved into a strategic partnership. GEK Lab now has a platform that not only supports its operations, but enhances them. Web Devotion has not simply provided a technology solution; instead, we have built a cutting-edge tool, combining innovation, efficiency and a clear vision of the potential of IT in diagnostics.
